The program, written using Apple's Xcode development system, is a standard Cocoa Core Data application designed for Mac OS X 10.4.x or greater. ISBNtracker is a 'universal binary' - it will run on both older PowerPC Macs and the current Intel Macs.
The application is based on articles published in MacTech magazine by Jeff LaMarch, but the code has been re-written to be compliant with Amazon's updated E-Commerce Service (ECS 4). ISBNtracker also adds to the original code and includes the following features:
Book information now contains ISBN, title, publisher, publication date, author(s), media, number of pages, editorial comment, similar books, cover image, sales ranking and average customer rating. Additionally, the user can select a particular category for any selected book and enter a date read for that book.
A selected book can be purchased directly from Amazon by clicking the 'Buy from Amazon' button.
Application preferences allow the user to search six different Amazon locations: USA, UK, France, Germany, Japan and Canada.
A search field allows the user to display a list of books based on various search criteria: Date Published, Media, Publisher, Title, Author or Category.
ISBNtracker includes an online check for the latest program update. There is also a built-in application help system with keyword search.
ISBNtracker is free to use. The software is provided "as is", without any further warranties.
To download ISBNtracker, click the program icon at the top right of this page (or click here). After downloading, simply double-click the '.zip' on your Mac to uncompress. Move the ISBNtracker application to your Applications folder.
